Elegant contemporary ballet seen through the stylish, cryptic lens of film noir.
One of Aotearoa's best loved dance choreographers, Mary Jane O'Reilly has created this contemporary ballet to be a moody reflection of the sometimes uneasy times we find ourselves in.
Channelling the tragic-romantic narratives of the great classic ballets, Ballet Noir includes femmes fatales, a young innocent abroad and two male rivals who go head to head with the ‘Ice Queen’ using dance as their weapon.
Clad in sharply tailored vintage costumes, twelve superbly trained dancers will bring this unique ballet to life at the Clarence Street Theatre in an exquisite blend of dance, music, film and fantasy.
