Weave the Greenest Shopping Basket, ever! Weekend workshop tutored by Yvonne Hammond experienced Harakeke Weaver

NZ Flax - Harakeke is the most enduring of all New Zealand native plants, a natural resource and easily accessible.

From plant to product, in this workshop you will learn the skills of weaving with NZ Flax - Harakeke including plaiting to create strong and sturdy handles for baskets.

You will leave with a completed, fully functioning shopping bag that will give you great satisfaction having created an object of natural beauty with sustainability in mind.

This is the second workshop in a series of three Harakeke Weaving workshops. The first introductory to Harakeke Weaving workshop is when you will be taught the cultural customs of working within the sustainable practices of Tikanga and the values toi raranga, the protocols of flax cutting and handling which surrounds this time-honoured craft. For introductory workshop details visit website.

The third workshop in this series is weaving your own Kete Whiri for Kete workshop details. See website.
