Nostalgic for the good old days? Aroha Music Society presents Hammers & Horsehair duo Douglas Mews (piano) and Robert Ibell (cello) joining forces once again with Rowena Simpson (soprano) to reimagine the triumphant 1922 New Zealand tour of Blenheim-born soprano Rosina Buckman with cellist Adelina Leon and pianist-composer Percy Kahn. The musical items in this delightful and varied concert include period classics and will be interspersed with anecdotes from the 1922 tour.
The “Homecoming” tour by Rosina Buckman in 1922 followed her farewell concert at Royal Albert Hall in London with an audience of over 10,000. One hundred years later, Aroha Music Society is proud to host this tribute performance.
