National Poetry Day takes place in August and it is the 25th year ....
so rather than celebrate just one day, local Taranaki poets are creating a number of events for the community to enjoy at Gover St Gallery, New Plymouth.

On Saturday 27th and Sunday 28th August, visit the Haiku Exhibit and come and add your own 5-7-5 syllable poem.

SATURDAY 27th AUGUST
If you’re unsure about writing poetry or just want to release your inner poet, then Mikaela Nyman & Helen Griffiths will be running workshops.

Mikaela will be hosting one for adults at 1 - 3pm
Helen will be hosting one for children from 3.30 - 4.30pm

These poetry workshops are free but have limited spaces so be sure to contact Helen on 021 0245 6720 if you’d like to join the sessions.

SUNDAY 28th AUGUST at 3pm
... the festivities will culminate with a Haiku High Tea where you can enjoy the finalised exhibit, listen to local poets share a selection of their haikus and enjoy some Japanese treats.

Please RSVP to Helen on 021 0245 6720 for catering purposes if you plan on coming to this session.
