We welcome all ages, cultures and backgrounds to join us at He Whakanui i ā Matariki Celebration. Learn more about the significance of Matariki to Aotearoa. Share a karakia (prayer), korero (talk) and a free coffee and kai (food) on us.
Please RSVP for catering purposes at
4.30: People start arriving.
5am: Opening - Pouroto Ngaropo will begin with a Karakia and Mihi, and take us on a short walk around the area.
5.20: Pouroto will share a korero (talk) on Matariki & what it means.
6am: Share a free coffee and breakfast with us before you go.
- Park considerately (ideally on side of road and walk up to allow easy parking for those who have mobility difficulties.
- Bring a torch or phone with flashlight so you can walk safely until you get to the site
-Wear warm clothing!
