Here is a wonderful chance to see Jade String Quartet in a more intimate setting. In association with Chamber Music New Zealand, Whittakers is very pleased to host our second performance from the CMNZ classical series, Music Up Close. Playing an eclectic mix of music for string quartet ranging from Vivaldi to Hendrix, the Jade String Quartet have won a special place in Aotearoa’s music scene. As part of this concert, Miranda Adams (violin), Charmian Keay (violin), Robert Ashworth (viola), and Edith Salzmann (cello) will perform Franz Schubert’s monumental Death and the Maiden, a cornerstone of string quartet repertoire, along with selections from Last Seven Words by “father of the string quartet”, Joseph Haydn, and a world premiere of a new work by NZ composer David Hamilton, commissioned by Jade String Quartet.
