The big race, the great day and one final hurrah to one incredible summer of racing.
Cheer on our athletes as they vie for Auckland Cup Week's® namesake silverware and their place in the history books in the $500K Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Cup®. If the only interaction you’ve had with racing is watching the Melbourne Cup, then you’re going to want to head to Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Cup Day as, well, it’s kind of a big deal.
Add to that the Group 1 Sistema Stakes and the Group 1 Bonecrusher New Zealand Stakes and the scene is set for a day of racing that will be talked about for years to come. With black type races (think test match rugby status) scattered amongst the others, the quality of racing will be peaking in celebration of the last of Auckland's summer racedays for 2022.
The bookend to Auckland Cup Week® as well as Ellerslie’s 2021/22 season, it’s one for the diary for sure.

EVENT CHANGES DUE TO GOVERNMENT REGULATIONS AROUND THE COVID-19 PANDEMIC
The Auckland region is currently sitting under the “Red” setting within the Government’s COVID-19 Protection Framework and with no date set for when the region may move to ‘Orange’, we have made the decision to restrict entry to Barfoot & Thompson Auckland Cup Day. Under this setting, events using the vaccine passport system cannot hold gatherings of more than 100 people in any one defined space.
As a result, changes or cancellations have been applied to hospitality precincts and / or ticketing options in order to ensure the event can be safely conducted under the requirements of events at “Red”. In addition, while the day’s racing will go ahead, cancellations have been made to off-track activities such as fashions in the field, all general admission areas and children's entertainment.
Ellerslie Racecourse is operating as a “vaccination required venue” while Auckland operates under the COVID-19 Protection Framework ("traffic light" system), or similar. As a result, racegoers will be required to present a valid COVID-19 Vaccine Pass along with a suitable form of photographic identification in order to be able to enter the racecourse. Children under the age of 12 years and three months, as well as those who present a valid medical exemption from [the approved COVID-19] vaccine(s)" as issued by New Zealand's Ministry of Health in conjunction with a matching and legal and valid form of photographic identification, are not required to show a valid My Vaccine Pass in order to obtain entry into our site(s).
