Live performance work by Alexa Wilson.
Figures appear and recede during a time of tumultuous change to perform rituals, smash rituals, morph rituals, dance battle, satirise and question rituals.
Responding to the current times of mass crisis, and the global phenomena of mass protests, collective resistance, and traumatic effects of a pandemic, Rituals of Destruction is a powerful new work by award-winning cutting edge interdisciplinary artist Alexa Wilson.
Rituals of Destruction using performance itself as a ritual through dance, performance art and humour reveals the roles of ritual in our collective and individual self-creation. Its aims are to break down oppressive norms in and around the body and identity, through powerful symbolic actions and gestures.
The work is performed by a fully female ensemble - Shani Dickins, Alana Yee, Alexa Wilson, with live drumming from Hannah Dactyl (Vox Venus), and featuring a video with Priya Miller.
