Iconic Kiwi band The Narcs will play a one-off show at Room 25, Nelson as part of their 'Heart Of Aotearoa' Tour.

The Tour is a nod to their recently re-recorded release of the band’s 1984 RIANZ 'Most Popular Song Of The Year' and Top 5 Hit (You Took Me) Heart & Soul. The Narcs are also celebrating their longevity and catalog of songs having been together since the early 80's.

During Covid-19 lockdowns and travel restrictions band members/songwriters Tony Waine, Andy Dickson and Liam Ryan have been writing and recording more new material from their home studios on both sides of the ditch. Part way through 2020 the guys decided to produce a remake of Heart & Soul, joined by new recruit Josh Sorenson on drums and mixed by Rikki Morris. ‘Heart and Soul 2020’ has put The Narcs back in new Zealanders living rooms over recent months as the soundtrack to 'Right In The Heart Of This Place' for the 'Love Taupo' TV tourism campaign. Check it out here!

From playing their first shows as a trio in the winter of 1980, the band went on to tour NZ relentlessly building a cult following along the way. 1983 saw the band take on keyboard player Liam Ryan, signed to major record label CBS (Sony) and went on to become a household name. The Narcs were rarely off the road and became known as one of the hardest working bands of it’s time. They opened for Queen and Elton John at Mt Smart Stadium performing to crowds of around 40,000 music fans on each gig. They toured the country with Midnight Oil, Split Enz and Cold Chisel.

The Narcs had a slew of radio hits and took out numerous RIANZ awards. Singer guitarist Andy Dickson was a male vocalist finalist in 1984. In 1986 Tony Waine won the APRA Silver Scroll for Abandoned By Love. Their recording legacy includes three EP’s “Narcs" and "No Turning Back", “Early Singles”, three studio albums “The Great Divide” (1984), “The Narcs” (1986) “Push The Boat Out” (1996), and a compilation “Best of The Narcs” (2002).

More recently, the band has released three new singles/videos ‘Summerhill Stone’, ‘Not Over’
and ‘I Don’t Want To Go To Work Today’ plus the 7-track ‘Early Singles’ EP was released digitally on 21st July 2021. They also appeared at Canterbury’s Selwyn Sounds, toured with Australia’s Psuedo Echo, hit the road with the ‘Not Over Summer Tour’ in 2019, headline Nelson’s Marchfest 2019, played a series of The Narcs Unplugged winter and summer tours in NZ and Australia and opened for Icehouse at Auckland’s Aotea Centre before a sold-out audience in March 2020.

With ‘Heart Of Aotearoa’ audiences can expect to hear 80's Narcs classics, songs from 90's Push The Boat Out album, plus the three recently released singles.
