Celebrate Seafood at the annual Havelock Mussel & Seafood Festival. It’s a vital part of Marlborough’s summer and its back, on Saturday the 12th of March 2022 at the Havelock Domain.

Located in Havelock, the gateway to the Marlborough Sounds, this festival celebrates the local mussel and seafood Industry in a family friendly way. As well as the native NZ Green Shell Mussel, the festival also celebrates New Zealand King Salmon and the Pacific Oyster which are also grown in the pristine waters of the Marlborough Sounds.

The day kicks off with a Kapa Haka performance then into a full line-up of good kiwi music including Kiwi legends Jordan Luck Band, The Butlers and Lord Echo’s Percussion People (DJ Set). This year's Celebrity Chef is none other than internationally acclaimed Simon Gault, one of New Zealand's most-respected food leaders. Catch Simon in the NZ King Salmon Cooking Tent or we have private cooking classes available.

Tantilise your tastebuds in the NZ King Salmon Cooking Tent with cooking displays from local chefs and experts, or enjoy local cuisine with over 40 food stalls. Learn about the local industry in the Marine Farming Association Industry Tent, keep the kids entertained at the NIWA Kids Zone, get amongst the dress up competitions, and don’t miss the public mussel opening competitions and the famous intercompany mussel opening competition including the Guinness World Record attempt.

The purpose of the festival is to promote and enhance the understanding and appreciation of the NZ Green Shell Mussel, after all Havelock is the Green Shell Mussel Capital of New Zealand. Secondly, to provide grants to organisations for charitable purposes in the local community.

The Havelock Mussel & Seafood Festival is a not-for-profit event and has been contributing back to the local community since 2004.
