A film by Arka Gupta
Distancing (Atimari) explores the recent marriage tension of small-town couple John and Rose Winstead after Rose discovers her husband's infidelity with his office co-worker, Kat. John desires a better, more improved life, made possible by moving to Sydney with Kat and leaving his small-town life, and wife, far behind - but the current state of the world and his sense of flawed morals may not make this transition the easiest.
Distancing (Atimari) is writer-director Arka Gupta's second dramatic film following Udiyoman (Emerging). He is a full-time PhD student in Chemistry at Massey University but utilises his spare time being an independent filmmaker with a background in theatre, having performed for many shows in the heart of the vibrant, creative Palmerston North. Distancing (Atimari)'s talent stars include Cam Dickons, Taryn Field and Lydia Smith - all of who have been involved with numerous theatrical productions in PN over the past few years and the recipients of a handful of accolades and awards for their roles. The director and the cast are excited to present this passion project, filmed in different Palmerston North locales, and screened at the local Globe Theatre.
This event will also feature Udiyoman (Emerging), Arka Gupta's first film made with the brilliantly creative Sam Wyss, another local talent. The film depicts a brave soul's journey through depression and dissociation, towards the hope of recovery.
Come and join us for an hour-long event showcasing and celebrating superb local talent. 3 nights only!
