Octavius - Napier's premier small choir - presents a feast of favourite Christmas music at their December concert. Octavius is a group which specialises in 8-part harmonies and sings music of many different genres. Under the direction of leading Napier musician Anthony Tattersall, the choir was formed 4 years ago and performed its first concert to a sellout audience at All Saints church hall in Taradale. Since then the group has regularly performed at many venues in Napier and Hastings. Highlights include collaborating with Iona College to present a variety show in the beautiful Blyth Centre, a concert in the Waiapu Cathedral in 2020 to celebrate the 250th anniversary of Beethoven’s birth and two concerts in St. Luke's church in Havelock North. Octavius has also sung Christmas Carols for patients and their families at Cranford Hospice and for several different social groups and businesses, and performed jazz classics at Mangapapa Hotel.
This concert will feature a selection of Christmas music both familiar and new, both sacred and secular and in styles ranging from madrigals to jazz ballads. There will be something that everyone will enjoy - we guarantee it!
