Fast creative ceramic sculpture workshop where the lucky student will be provided with a kilo of clay and the necessary tools to make a wonderful mug or vase. With a maximum of 12 students, you will learn the basic skills for working with clay, rolling, cutting, texture, sculpting and joining body parts to either a cylinder or curvaceous mug and to finish it off with simple glazing and colouring.
Students will decorate their amazing creations in bright underglaze and have their masterpiece finished with a lovely shiny clear glaze that will be fired and ready to collect depending on drying times and firing schedules. The clay provided can be either a bright white base that will enhance the colours you choose, or you may prefer a lovely warm terracotta and use an acid yellow glaze as shown in the photo. Lots of choices to make. You have two workshops to choose from either Thursday the 6th or Monday the 24th.

The result will be a distinctive expression of your unique personality, where you will only be limited by the amount of clay at your disposal. A long history in ceramic art has brought Deb to this place, where she wants to share what she has learned and experienced. Recently completing a master’s in visual art with ceramics at Otago, her experience as a self-employed ceramic storyteller since the late 70s has culminated in having a lot of creativity to offer.
