Darkroom and RDU 98.5 FM present the latest in their series of free, informal artist development sessions. May's topic is Song Writing, with a panel of local artists from a variety of genres and backgrounds, including the wonderfully talented Sarena Close of Mousey!

7pm doors, seminar kicks off 7:30pm

Song writing is a varied and personal process - and there is no one way to approach creating a song, so for this seminar we’re going to hear from a variety of local musicians as they talk about the different approaches and techniques they apply when putting together songs - both in terms of writing lyrics, exploring themes, or telling stories through songs; as well as structure, composition, and instrumentation. Come along and get some tips and tricks to inspire you to get writing.

It's free to attend and we'll even provide free snacks! The bar will be open if you want to buy a drink.

This project is made possible thanks to the generous support of New Zealand Music Commission's Capability Grants Programme.

Please note Darkroom is an R18 premises, if under 18s wish to attend they must be accompanied by a parent or court-appointed caregiver. Please wear a mask whenever you are not seated.
