Discover the volcanic history of Mt Ruapehu on this off-track hike down the lahar path from the top of the Tukino Mountain Road.
Look at paths from the ancient Rangipo mega lahars, and the more recent (1995, 2007 x 2) lahar activity down the Whangaehu and at the site of the Bund (man-made barrier). Also make stops at the charred forest created by the Taupo blast.
