Bucks Road Conservation Camp, Bucks Road, Underhill Rd, Tararua Forest Park, Featherston

Adults Only

Ticket Information:

  • General Admission: $43.00

The first of these two walks at Bucks Road in Featherston falls on the autumn equinox where the day and night are of equal length. The equinox is significant in Māori and European traditions and we welcome the darker half of the year by acknowledging the beauty and value of every season.

Bucks Road conservation camp is located 10 minutes outside of Featherston in the Wairarapa. The clear waters of the Tauherenikau river and the vibrant regenerating bush provides a perfect backdrop for forest bathing, sometimes referred to as mindfulness in nature.

This walk will assist you with slowing down a little. With taking some time to nurture you, and to connect with nature in a way that inspires calm and joy.

At Wairarapa Nature Immersion we know how busy life can get and we believe the science which tells us that a guided walk in the bush is the perfect antidote for stress and a wonderful way to boost wellbeing, creativity, purpose and focus.

Away from the 'shoulds' and 'musts', your trained guide will take you on a 2-hour long sensory journey through regenerating bush and down to the river for the purpose of enabling you to feel a deep sense of calm and joy. The slow walk includes breathing exercises and stops at various locations to allow us to soak in the natural world with our senses.

Studies into the benefits of forest bathing - or mindfulness in nature - have shown that spending time in nature, away from the demands of daily life, helps reduce stress, anxiety and depression while also improving physiological challenges brought on by prolonged stress such as high blood pressure.

Each walk includes a warm drink of locally made herbal tea and a nurturing bite to eat at the end.

This particular walk is not suitable for our youngest people, but please keep an eye out for upcoming walks focusing on children and families.

Please visit our website or Facebook Page for more information about forest bathing.

We look forward to hearing from you and sharing this remarkable experience with you. Note that pre-booking is essential for this walk and that numbers are limited to eight.
