Learn about the age old healing and spiritual practice of Shamanism and how to 'Journey' (enter into an altered state of consciousness to seek guidance, healing, clarity and deeper self awareness and wisdom).
The day will begin with a chance for everyone to introduce themselves.
Followed by a sharing circle on 'what shamanism is to you?'
Then I will give a talk about the origins of shamanism, the word, the practice and the anthropology of shamanism.
In the afternoon we will begin the practical side of the day.
Learning how to 'journey'
This is the shamanic practice of entering into an altered state of consciousness by using the drum
(if you do not own a drum, I have recorded drumming tracks on bandcamp that are available for you to use after the workshop)
Using this practice we will travel to meet your power animal and your guide.
I will talk to you about interpreting what we see and experience in the alternate reality and working with power animals and guides and how to apply this in a practical, useful and functional way in our day to day life.
The last journey we will do is on each other's behalf, to ask questions of our guides for others. This is a wonderful chance to have experiential proof of the efficacy of the work.
From here you can either simply continue to work with your guide and power animal in your own time from home, or in the future attend further workshops that I hold that are based around healing tools and practices used in shamanism either for our own growth and healing or for offering healing to others.
I will also be holding drumming circles for community building and communal healing in the future.
About the facilitator (Leandro D'Andrea):
Leandro has been working as a shamanic practitioner in Europe for the past 10 years, holding ceremonies, doing 1 to 1 healings and teaching others shamanic practice. Choosing to recently move back to New Zealand, Leandro has established ShamanicHealingNZ.com to offer healing and learning to New Zealander's interested in Shamanism.
Proudly born and raised in New Zealand, surrounded by the ancient and inspiring beauty that is Tongariro National Park, Leandro shares his Core Shamanic teachings in a form that is respectful of all practitioners and cultures; taking a universal approach that is strongly influenced by the work of Michael Harner.
Apprenticed in Peruvian Shamanism to Dr Rubén Orellana PhD, Leandro’s shamanic path has lead him to work with traditional medicine plants, such as Ayahuasca in the Amazon Jungle and San Pedro in the high country of Peru.
For the last eight years Leandro has studied the tradition of brewing Wachuma (San Pedro) as passed down through generations of indigenous healers in Peru under the guidance of Maestro of San Pedro, Rubén Orellana.
He also holds Psilocybin Retreats alongside psychotherapist Michele Costa Lukis in the Netherlands.
Leandro completed a three-year training in Core Shamanism with Simon Buxton of The Sacred Trust. His work is based on a strong belief that we are all connected and therefore we should all show love and respect to one another.
In the UK, Leandro has worked with Michele Costa Lukis as a Shamanic Practitioner offering one on one healings and holding monthly Andean Circles where he teaches shamanic principles. Leandro also led shamanic walks of consciousness through the woodlands of the UK and held weekly men’s groups for personal empowerment.
