After successfully crossing the Misty Mountains, the dwarves and Bilbo continue through Mirkwood Forest towards the settlement of Lake-town. The Lonely Mountain lies ahead, Bilbo Baggins must now fulfil his contract with the dwarves as ‘burglar Baggins’
Canterbury’s Lake Pukaki was chosen as the filming location for Laketown. Braemar Station at Lake Pukaki was used also used for the forest slopes of Misty Mountains.
Featuring Christchurch’s own Mark Hadlow, long time Isaac Theatre Royal supporter Sir Ian McKellen and filmed by kiwi icon Sir Peter Jackson this film is not to be missed in the beautiful surrounds of the theatre!
