The museum is housed in the first school in Wainuiomata and is contained in two rooms - one with the museum collection, the other set up as a period classroom.
Good displays of household memorabilia and photographic history of the area and early settlers. Class visits can, by arrangement, be accommodated in the period classroom together with period teacher and appropriate class lesson. A true local community museum.
A collection of photos and memorabilia relating to early Wainuiomata, particularly strong in the 1940s photos and 1920s Wainuiomata Development Company and the opening up of farm areas for proposed housing. The change from a farming community isolated geographically to modern suburbia is recorded.
