This school holidays, bring the tamariki to see “It’s Alive!” a brand-new theatre show for the whole whānau. This fun and silly show, designed especially for tamariki aged 5-10, features science experiments live on stage, and gives kids the opportunity to directly influence the actor’s decisions and show storyline.
The show follows two young wannabe scientists (Dylan Underwood, and Rebecca Stubbing) who try to do their Best Experiment Ever, only for it to go horribly wrong and accidentally create a puppet (puppeteer Isabella Kerridge-Temm). Will the puppet be a friend, or will they cause chaos for the kids to clean up before mum gets home?
Brought to you by Improverished, the improvised theatre company behind family-friendly shows like Choose Your Own Adventure and Random Fairytale Generator which have sold-out venues at the New Zealand International Comedy Festival and the Auckland Fringe Festival since 2019. “It’s Alive!” is their latest show, and it’s sure to bring the same sense of joy and silliness as their other beloved performances.
All the science experiments have been designed with careful consultation with chemists to ensure the safety of the audience, and they can be done at home as school holiday projects.
“It’s Alive!” combines theatre, comedy, science, puppetry, and improvisation into a joyful 45-minute adventure that will blast your socks off.
“Francesca Browne and Rebecca Stubbing… are regaling from the get go…The audience overall find the show highly entertaining, with the troupe eliciting raucous laughter and genuine investment in this short-lived story.” - Theatrescenes Improverished Review
