Situated in the heart of historic Old Town Whanganui, the WHMilbank Gallery began operating in early 2007 in a refurbished ground floor of a handsome Edwardian Industrial building close to the Whanganui River.
In February 2011 the Gallery relocated the old Druid's Hall at 1B Bell Street Whanganui, closer to the public Sarjeant Gallery and in the heart of the town's law and order precinct. The unique spaces in this important heritage building enable Gallery Director Bill Milbank to continue curating exhibitions of diverse interest and also further build on his commitment to New Zealand's master painter Philip Trusttum by dedicating a permanent showroom of his work with changing exhibitions and an expanding Trusttum research facility.
The Gallery's exhibition programme draws on the many contacts built up with artists locally and nationally and his wide ranging curatorial experience accumulated during Bill's three decades working as the Director of the Sarjeant Gallery.
An art appraisal and valuation service including advice on the care and development of collections is available to the public and artists through the WHMilbank Gallery.
