The ultimate gourmet collaboration for foodies, our Pure Extravagance Weekend, curated by Executive Chef, Paul Froggatt. This annual event staged especially for discerning food and wine lovers, this fabulous event brings together selected artisan producers and importers to create this outstanding occasion – not to be missed.
On the Friday afternoon, guests can watch A Lady Butcher, Hannah Miller as she demonstrates her skills turning beef rump into bresaola. In the early evening, guests will gather for pre-dinner drinks and canapés, with a superb five-course dinner to follow. Executive Chef, Paul Froggatt, will work closely with FROMM Winery, Stephan Walliser to create five exquisite dishes to complement the intense complexity of the FROMM wines that Stephan will chose.
Saturday starts with a slow and leisurely brunch accompanied by a glass of fabulous Louis Roederer Rosé Vintage Champagne setting the scene for what’s to come. This signature blend of 65% Pinot Noir and 35% Chardonnay, is matured on lees for 4 years, and left for a minimum of 6 months after disgorging, to attain such a perfect balance.
In the early afternoon, Chef Paul and fellow chef, Martin Bosley (who is also the Chief Fishmonger, Yellow Brick Road), will showcase their talents and expertise for guests during an engaging demonstration. Paul and Martin will share techniques, knowledge, and recipes with a focus on the sustainable seafood harvested by Yellow Brick Road and favoured by New Zealand’s finest chefs.
In the early evening guests can gather in the Main Lodge for a fun, themed cocktail clinic, presented with recipes created by our food and beverage team.
Later, departing from our usual Huka Lodge style, dinner on the Saturday evening will be served from a series of food stations, with our chefs in attendance. Chef Paul will select and gather stunning local produce, and an abundance of decadent ingredients for you to enjoy.
New Zealand Cheese LTD Distributer, Maker and Storyteller, James Thomas will also be there presenting his knowledge and passion of delicious, specialty artisan mature cheese for everyone to sample. New Zealand Cheese Ltd a distributor which specialises in supplying independently made New Zealand cheese to food service, delicatessens, and overseas markets. James began his career as a maker in Switzerland in 2012, then worked in Holland, Norway, and France. He spent two seasons making cheese under Albert Alferink at Mercer Cheese while completing the NZ Cheese master program before two years in London in the Wholesale department of La Fromagerie.
FROMM Winery, Stephan Walliser will also be pouring a fabulous selection of his favourite FROMM wines.
