The Waikanae Lions Club and the Waikanae Funeral Home present the Royal New Zealand Air Force Band! The RNZAF Band are returning to the Southward Car Museum in Paraparaumu on July 4th for an exciting variety show - complete with a hint of Americana to celebrate the fourth of July! Tickets are available from Eventfinda or the Southward Car Museum shop (Phone: 297-1221)
“America the Beautiful” and the famous “Stars and Stripes” by legendary American composer of marches John Philip Sousa will be interspersed with some local talent: vocalist Matt Mulholland will present songs from Disney classics as well as an epic medley of hits from Earth, Wind and Fire; and resident bagpiper Flight Sergeant Murray Mansfield QSM will entertain along with the thrilling Drum Line. Audiences will also be treated to some rarely-performed symphonic works including Anthony Ritchie’s “Down the Brunner Mine,” to commemorate 125 years since the Brunner Mine disaster. Proceeds from this charity concert will go to the Waikanae Volunteer Fire Brigade.
The RNZAF Band are the country’s only full-sized professional symphonic wind band, made up of some of the leading contributors to Wellington’s buzzing music scene.
