STATEMENT FROM SCOOP AFTER MOVE TO RED LIGHT
Bugger! Who'd be an event director!
Less than 24 hours after completing a saturation marketing exercise for
the Bayleys Brecon St Grunt, the Government announcement we're going
into the Red setting tonight means we're regrettably going to have to
postpone the event until the (Omicron) coast is clear.
As it happens, we'd have been OK running the event, as we only needed 84
runners, but my idea behind the event was always to use it as a catalyst
to get people into the CBD and help the Brecon St hospo precinct in
particular, and to raise money on the day for our charity, St John.
All spectators were to be confined to the outdoor licensing areas of 3
bars and we could have kept numbers down, but the killer is patrons all
have to be seated under Red.
The good news is we've had fantastic support for the event from naming
sponsor Bayleys, the 3 Brecon St bars we were going to fill and other
businesses who've supplied spot prize vouchers, the council was also
most helpful as was St John (including providing an ambulance before
Scoop did a demo run up and down the steps) and I've also had big
interest from prospective competitors and volunteers.
As a result, I feel the set-up work won't be in vain and we'll be able
to run a successful Grunt at a later date TBC.
Just want to sincerely thank everyone who's expressed support for the event.
We'll be back, big-time, but meanwhile, stay safe and get your booster!
Queenstown's most beloved journalist has turned Event Director in an effort to bring some stimulus to Queenstown's CBD, raise money for St. John's Ambulance and have a fun day out where locals can win $1000!
Everyone knows the Brecon St steps - How fast can you run up and down them??? Put your money where your mouth is and enter the Bayley's Brecon St Grunt!
We'll start with a field of 24 men, 24 women and 12 3 pax relay teams. It's a head-to-head knock-out style race. 2 individuals/teams will go head to head. The winner will move on to the next round. Until we have one winner in each category
1st prize in all categories is $1000.
Spectators and competitors will be required to upload a MyVaccine Pass to Eventfinda when they purchase a ticket and upon entry.
