The course runs 9 AM - 5 PM over a weekend and is offered 26 - 27 June 2021 or 18 - 19 September 2021. A generous course fee subsidy is available for NZ citizens and permanent migrants who can commit to a high level of attendance. This subsidy is provided through funding from the Tertiary Education Commission.
The course focuses on the background to WordPress, how each version works, and how to edit and manage the WordPress dashboard. We then go on to install WordPress in class over the weekend build a website for an accommodation business. We cover themes, plug-ins and an overview of what you would need to do to liven your website up on the internet. We use the Avada Multi-Purpose WordPress Theme for this course.
On completion of the course you will be able to:
- Explain the differences between each version of WordPress
- Understand how to install and configure each version of WordPress
- Be confident to manage the WordPress dashboard on a website
- Learn how to add/delete and edit pages
- Add basic plug-ins and themes to your WordPress website
Places are limited on this course so we recommend you register your interest early to secure a space. Participants should have strong general computer skills. The course will be run within a Selwyn College computer suite using the school's computers.
