Burns and Politics

Dunedin fans of Robbie Burns have been celebrating the poet’s birthday since 1885.

Join Toitū Otago Settlers Museum and the Dunedin Burns Club to consider thoughts on Burns and politics from Dunedin Mayor Aaron Hawkins and Taieri MP Ingrid Leary.

Enjoy traditional Scottish food and drink, kick your heels up at the ceilidh. Listen to the Scottish Fiddle Orchestra and hear Burns in Te Reo Māori with the OGHS/OBHS kapa haka group Wairua Puhoū’s versions of classic Burns’ songs. Cheer the winners of the Burns poetry competition and welcome the University’s new Burns Fellow.

Should this event be cancelled due to COVID-19, your ticket price will be refunded.

Seating is self-managed. Please arrive at the same time as those who you would like to sit beside to avoid disappointment.
An entire table can be purchased for $900. There is a maximum of 10 people per table.
Full payment at time of booking is essential.
There will be a cash bar (no EFTPOS).
Last day to purchase tickets is Friday, 21 January 2022, unless sold-out prior.
