Darkroom and RDU 98.5 FM present the latest seminar in their series of free, informal, peer-run artist development sessions March's topic is Music Royalties.
We will run you through how to sign up with APRA so you can paid royalties for the live gigs you've performed as well as any radio play you've had for your music. Even if you're a band just starting out, playing a few local venues or maybe having a song or two play on local independent radio - you should get signed up cos it's easy money!
Venues and shops pay annual licensing fees to APRA to be able to play music whether it's on the radio, via Spotify, or hosting live gigs. This money is paid by venues like Darkroom so that it makes its way to the pockets of artists like yourselves. While signing up to APRA is a bit of a tedious administrative task, it is well worth it!
7 pm doors, seminar kicks off 7:30 pm.
It's free to attend and we'll provide some free snacks. The bar will be open if you want to buy a drink.
These events will be super informal and the idea is to learn from our peers and share our skills and experience with others in the creative and event industries. April's guest speaker will be Nick Vassar from Darkroom.
