For the third consecutive year, the Omakere School and Community Association brings you the Coastal Hill Country Walk fundraiser.
A fantastic way to experience the impressive landscapes of Central Hawke’s Bay, this guided 17km loop will traverse stunning private farmland and take in an incredible 360-degree vista of pristine countryside.
The new route for 2021 will see walkers head out past the Amblethorn Kahikatea stand, which dates back hundreds of years and is undergoing a restoration project in partnership with the school.
It then challenges walkers to ascend Omakere Hill, a landmark that can be seen throughout Central Hawke’s Bay, to take in the incredible full panorama of coastal farmland.
The full walk will cross rolling farmland, steep country and native bush so a good level of fitness, quality walking or trail shoes and walking poles are recommended.
Included with your ticket is a delicious homemade packed lunch with tea and coffee, provided at the lunch stop. There will be food and refreshments to purchase at the end of your walk - please stay and enjoy our hospitality.
It is essential to bring plenty of water, warm clothes for lunch stop, snacks and sunscreen.
