Les Voisins (‘Neighbours’) is a coming together of worlds, neighbours and friends. In this concert, Justine Cormack (violin), James Bush (cello) and Juan Carlos de Mulder (theorbo & guitars) take us to a “Hot Club in Paris” in which three centuries of French music mix and converse.

The baroque theorbo opens this concert, its plucked sounds evoking heaven’s angels. Violin and cello join in to explore layers of the rich and intensely emotional world of the French baroque. The result: tenderness, colour and verve.

Robert de Visée - Prélude and Passacaille (Solo Theorbo)
Jean Marie Leclair - Sonata for Violin and Continuo, Op. 2, No. 1 in E minor
Robert de Visée - Prelude/Les Sylvains de Mr. Couperin (Solo Theorbo)
Marin Marais - Sonnerie de Ste. Geneviève du Mont-de-Paris
Alex Taylor (NZ) - The French Baroque reimagined (Violin, Cello and Theorbo)
Maurice Ravel - Sonata for Violin and Cello
Django Reinhardt - Nuages, Sweet Georgia Brown, Minor Swing

This concert is presented in association with Chamber Music NZ.
