The Madeira Hotel is located in New Zealand’s South Island in a small French settlement dating back to the early 19th century in a village called Akaroa. Approximately 1hr drive out from Christchurch on the Banks Peninsula, it is one of only two Hotels. The Maderia Hotel or Pub as it’s commonly known in New Zealand has accommodation for about 20 people in 10 rooms which range from single, twin singles to doubles. The Hotel has a bottle store, pokies in the local sports bar, and a licensed restaurant to cater for 50 patrons. French history and heritage is celebrated each year in Akaroa.
