Canadian alt-country heroes Cowboy Junkies are making their much-awaited NZ comeback in May 2020! Armed with their acclaimed list of classics, the group are set to play three headlining shows in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch. After their NZ dates, they'll be heading across Australia to kickoff a series of performances happening in Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Sydney and Brisbane.
Since breaking onto the scene in 1985, Cowboy Junkies (whose members are Michael Timmins, Margo Timmins, Peter Timmins and Alan Anton) have remained true to their unique artistic vision. They've inadvertently started a music revolution with their breakthrough album 'The Trinity Session'. The record went on to sell more than a million copies—foretelling the subsequent alternative-country movement in the '90s and beyond. It also featured the band's unforgettable cover of the Velvet Underground's 'Sweet Jane'—combining folk, country, blues and rock in a way that had never been heard before.
Throughout their three decade-long career, Cowboy Junkies have created a critically-acclaimed body of work that has endeared them to an audience unwavering in its loyalty. Over subsequent albums, they have helped introduce their followers to the work of seminal singer-songwriters like Townes Van Zandt and John Prine. Their most recent album 'All That Reckoning' was officially released last July 2018—marking the band's most powerful album to date.
