Raise your voice and sing in a unique choral evening at ZEALANDIA!

Tūī are known for their ability to mimic others – now we have the chance to mimic them. Accompanied by the Baroque Voices choir, you will have the chance to learn excerpts from a real tūī song recorded in the sanctuary, and sing together in the world premiere of this exceptional homage to native birdsong.
After the performance, join us for drinks and nibbles in the café for a chance to mingle and share your thoughts on the experience.

About the piece

‘Sounding the Tūī - Together#9’ is composed by Alison Isadora with support from the Susan Rhind Award 2020 and is part of an immersive series of works exploring how we make music together.
Isadora is currently a research fellow at DAS THIRD (Netherlands) and a Doctoral candidate at the New Zealand School of Music (Victoria University of Wellington). Her research uses text, bird song and recontextualised scores to encourage attention to the materiality of sound and to invite active, embodied and situational musicking. This event is contributing to her research, and as such will be recorded for academic and promotional use. Embrace your inner songbird and enjoy a unique night of musical whimsy at ZEALANDIA.

See the previous piece in the series above.

NOTE: If Wellington is in COVID-19 Alert Level 2, the event will be postponed until we return to Alert Level 1. If you are unable to make the postponement date, a full refund will be provided.
