Benedict Cumberbatch stars as Hamlet, in a National Theatre production, captured on screen in 2015.

The screening on Speedy Signs' giant TV is free, so bring your deck chair, blankets and picnic to the Queens Park band rotunda area and enjoy a superb production in our popular park.

The story is about Hamlet, Prince of Denmark, who, finding out that his Uncle Claudius killed his father to obtain the throne, plans his revenge.

The production is directed by Lyndsey Turner and Robin Lough.

What the critics said:
"Cumberbatch is a strikingly eloquent Hamlet in an evening of fitful illumination." (The Guardian).
"Cumberbatch's heartfelt performance in Turner's humane, cleverly cut and rejigged production makes you feel like this play is, indeed, timeless and packed with human wisdom, poetically revealed. " (Globe and Mail).

The screening is rated M meaning that while it is available to everyone, it recommended for adult audiences, (it has a couple of sexual references). Parental guidance is recommended for younger viewers under 16.

Join us on Facebook for further information and updates, especially for cancellation information, should the weather determine it.

The screening is presented by Shakespeare in the Park Charitable Trust and supported by Speedy Signs.
