Since moving to Russell, ex-Hello Sailor guitar player Harry Lyon has played two soldout shows at the Russell Boating Club. 2018 was for the launch of his critically acclaimed hit solo album “To the Sea” and 2019 was for a more intimate trio show. In 2020 Harry is bringing the heavy artillery: The Remnants of Hello Sailor.
The Remnants are what remain of the line-up that played the final Hello Sailor show with Graham Brazier in front of 10,000 people in Hagley Park Christchurch, March 2015. After much agonising over the loss of Dave McArtney in 2013, Sailor had decided to continue and brought old friend Jimmy Taylor in on guitar.
Jimmy moved to London in 1989 and became a founding member of Miss World with musicians from Original Mirrors, The Pretenders and Roger Taylor’s post Queen line-up The Cross. During the 90s Jimmy recorded with Miss World, The Starlings, Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark and Dave Stewart. He along with Harry, Rick Ball and Paul Woolright are The Remnants
The Remnants are as close as fans will get to Hello Sailor’s classic sound. Their shows feature Sailor favourites, songs from The Legionnaires, Pink Flamingos, Coup D'Etat and Harry’s 2018 critically acclaimed hit solo-album “To the Sea”. It’s a rockin’ good time…. Catch them at The Russell Boating Club!
