The Wallace Arts Centre is proud to host an eclectic array of musicians and musical genres at the Pah Homestead. In its ongoing commitment to support and provide opportunities for live performance, the Wallace Arts Trust is proud to present some of New Zealand’s most exciting vocal talent accompanied by acclaimed pianist Rosemary Barnes.

Join us for an intimate evening of song brought to you by two of New Zealand‘s most exciting young vocalists, soprano Claire Filer and tenor Cameron Barclay, with the much lauded Rosie Barnes at the piano. This soiree of popular song solos and duets will also feature one or two well-known arias from the opera repertoire as well as some musical theatre favourites. This is a rare opportunity to hear these home-grown singers, both of whom have successful international careers but are currently enjoying time back home in Auckland during Covid.

Soprano Claire Filer has a performing career spanning New Zealand, America and Europe. She has sung as a soloist and chorus member all over the UK from her London base and her many roles include Dido (Dido & Aeneas), the title role in La Cenerentola, Vivaldi's Gloria and Bach's St John Passion. Alongside singing, Claire runs a gin-tasting video blog called High Ginx with tenor Ben Thapa.

Tenor Cameron Barclay also has an extensive performing background both on the New Zealand stage and overseas. Past performances include Handel's Messiah, Die Fledermaus and The Turn of the Screw, as well as the role of Raoul in Ken Hill's Original Phantom of the Opera in Tokyo. Since 2014, Cameron has been one tenth of the Australian-based classical-crossover ensemble The Ten Tenors, performing in over 600 venues internationally as well as recording three studio albums.

Rosemary Barnes is one of New Zealand‘s best loved and most accomplished pianists. Having worked for many years with the English National Opera and at Glyndebourne, she returned home to Auckland where she has taught and performed extensively, including concerts with Dame Kiri Te Kawana, Sir Donald McIntyre, Lesley Garrett, Pene Pati and Amitai Pati. In 2000, Rosemary was awarded an MNZM for services to music.
