Today the Brigade has an establishment of 30. Fire calls are in excess of 200 of all types. The Hawke’s Bay summer sees grass and herbage fires to the fore with the greater use of private fire alarms and a significant number of retirement villages being factors contributing to call numbers
The Brigade is active in safety promotions, which consist of school visits, smoke alarm promotions and any initiative that will assist in the reduction of fire and road crash incidents.
Havelock North competition teams are very much involved in fire brigade competitions being very active in both the four and two men events. The team has had occasion to be the New Zealand champions amongst other victories.
The social life of the Brigade is also very active with competition in golf, bowls, touch rugby, and even a win in the Big Game Fishing Competition in the Bay of Islands.
