Fernridge School is a caring, small rural school for children from New Entrant to Year 6, offering big things in education. Based at the foot of the Tararua Ranges and just 5 minutes from the Masterton CBD, Fernridge School has been offering personalised education for over 140 years. Children enjoy being surrounded by the beauty of the outdoors, where we value our partnership with DOC and our national and international award winning Enviro School philosophy.
Our teachers value a very supportive community of parents and caregivers who work together effectively to provide a well rounded education based on respect and a valuing of education to prepare our young people to achieve our school motto “Learning for Life”. We value individuality, diversity and passion.
We encourage and offer a wide range of sporting activities and for two years running, we have been the winners of the local Rippa Rugby World Cup!
We promote co-operative learning throughout the school with cross grouping and buddy activities to promote a feeling of belonging to a school family. Our whare holds a special place in our hearts, as do our vegetable gardens, chickens, huge playground, modern hall, worm farm, paper brick making, bird feeding stations, and recycling stations.
