Celebrating his golden years in music is Britain's one and only 'King of Romance', Engelbert Humperdinck. The legendary balladeer will be performing a series of shows in Auckland, Christchurch and Wellington next year. After crooning for his NZ audiences, Engelbert Humperdinck will wind up his Australian tour. He'll be playing his comeback concerts happening in the Gold Coast, Sydney, Melbourne and Perth.
Humperdinck emerged onto the music scene in the 60s, the same year Britain's legendary powerhouse The Beatles and the Rolling Stones were born. He then became great friends with 'King of Rock 'n' Roll' Elvis Presley and the two often performed each other's songs. Apart from his unforgettable renditions, Humperdinck also performed for the Queen for four times, and he's been given the honour to sing for several presidents and prominent heads of state.
During his five-decade career, Humperdinck has been renowned for some of the biggest, most popular anthems in music, from 'Release Me' and 'Ten Guitars' to 'Last Waltz' and 'Quando, Quando, Quando'. His first single 'Release Me' coveted the no. 1 spot in 11 countries and went into the Guinness Book of Records for achieving 56 consecutive weeks on the charts. He's generated sales in excess of 140 million records, including 64 gold albums and 35 platinum, four Grammy Award nominations, a Golden Globe and stars on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and the Las Vegas Walk of Fame.
Engelbert Humperdinck has recorded everything, from the most romantic ballads to movie theme songs, disco, rock and even gospel. His latest 'The Man I Want To Be Tour' takes its name from his recently released album which marked his 50th anniversary and served as a love letter to his wife of 53 years, Patricia. The album, which is made up of original tracks and covers of contemporary songs, including Ed Sheeran's 'Photograph' and Bruno Mars' 'Just the Way You Are' has received rave reviews.
