Curiously entertaining Cosmic Shambles bring a captivating comedy, music and science showcase to Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch this April hosted by self-proclaimed ‘interested idiot', Robin Ince and comedian, Josie Long.
Each city will be treated to tight music sets from some of Aotearoa’s top artist for a Shambles' signature style.
Top kiwi brain and celebrity scientist Dr Michelle Dickinson (MNZM) is joining the bandwagon with her exciting and edgy live experiments. In the comedy arena, Wellingtonian James Nokise is gearing up for a set that showcases his political satire and multicultural perspective.
On top of this, three of NZ’s top musicians are jumping on board to perform short sets as part of their eclectic line-up: Hollie Smith, one of NZ’s best-loved singer-songwriters, will indulge Christchurch audiences with her powerful melodies and smooth vocals. Lawrence Arabia will treat Auckland audiences to his sublime indie-pop melodies. Jon Toogood will rock out with his fellow Wellingtonians.
Plus three more of NZ’s top brains are joining the fun! Award-winning scientist and communicator Dr Siouxsie Wiles, physics whizz, academic leader and author Shaun Hendy and award-winning banter Matt Stellingwerf who will unite with his fellow comedians in all three NZ shows.
Also heading over from the UK are Matt Parker, a ‘stand-up mathematician’ known for Festival of the Spoken Nerd, and his appearances on Numberphile and the Discovery Channel, Dr Helen Czerski, a regular Landmark Series science presenter for the BBC, oceanographer and physicist, and Sky at Night’s Professor Lucie Green; one of the most respected solar scientists in the world!
This will be a one-night-only tasting menu of witty stand-up, fascinating scientific explorations with big name musicians and a mind-blowing style of entertainment that will surely leave the audiences enthralled.
