The Egmont A&P Show is an annual event held on the third weekend in November one of South Taranaki's major events.
The Show has a theme every year, for 2011 it is “Fighting Fit”.
There are prizes for the best indoor and outdoor trade stands.
The show hosts a large trade area showcasing local and out of town businesses in both indoor and outdoor venues.
Every year there has been an array of different entertainment at the show including motorcycle displays, performing ponies and dogs, childrens' clown entertainment, wood chopping competitions, sheep racing, V8 car simulator, rock climbing, a small animal tent dancing and many activities for children in Kidzone hosted by
The Radio Network. The side shows as always are a major attraction for the younger generation.
It has a strong equestrian contingent encompassing Dressage, Show Jumping, Show Hunter, Miniature Horses and Showing classes. The Cattle section is also well supported with many breeds shown. There are dog trials and for the petrol heads a tractor pull event. The show has a large home industry section, including competition based around baking, growing vegetables, sewing and knitting, photography, model building and cut flowers.
Competitors enjoy the Egmont showgrounds due to the excellent facilities, good competition areas, proximity to the town centre and a well run competition with good prize money.
