The 2021 Kawhia Moana, Kawhia Kai, Kawhia Tangata Festival is a celebration of maori kai (food), culture and the people of Kawhia.
Preparation is well underway for the 2021 Kawhia Kai Festival to be held on Saturday 6th February, with more than 40 stalls ranging from food to arts & crafts.
Set in the heart of Kawhia, Omimiti reserve is transformed into a food court with a selection of maori food from the land (kai whenua) and sea (kai moana), it is the perfect venue to try delicacies such as Koki (shark-liver pate), fermented corn and the ever-popular hangi.
Festival-goers are treated to all-day entertainment from local musicians, bands & kapahaka groups, only an hour & a half drive from Hamilton city, it's a great seaside day out for the family.
