Venerable Thubten Khadro is leading two separate six-day retreats for the month of January and February.
January's retreat is titled "Cultivating Shamatha and Bodhichitta" - 10th – 15th January 2020.
This retreat is ideal for those who would like to open their hearts wider and learn, embrace or deepen the powerful and practical skill of shamatha / calm abiding which is the development of a focused and concentrated mind.
The meditations on shamatha will be guided and focused first on the breath, gradually moving to being mindful of mental activity and moving even subtler inwardly to being mindful of awareness of awareness. The meditations on Bodhichitta, the altruistic open and good heart of enlightenment, will be based around the two traditional methods of developing Bodhichitta within Tibetan Buddhism. This retreat will have a strong focus on being mindful of our motivations and how to transform them into being compassionate and wise ones.
February's retreat is titled "Cultivating Shamatha and Emptiness" - 21st – 26th February 2020.
This retreat will have a strong emphasis on understanding and getting familiarised with the correct view of reality, the view of emptiness; while also developing a focused and concentrated mind through the practice of shamatha /calm abiding. The meditations to generate a calm, concentrated mind will be guided and focused first on the breath, gradually moving to being mindful of mental activity and moving even subtler inwardly to being mindful of awareness of awareness.
The retreat will also include meditations on emptiness and will grant participants a grounded appreciation of the view of emptiness and how to practically apply this wisdom into their daily lives.
Both of the retreats are supported by breath awareness meditations, stretching sessions and full days in silence to allow participants.
