Nerikomi Workshop - Coloured Clay with Alex Wilkinson.

Join Alex in a 4 part workshop to build handmade coloured porcelain creations. Discover ideas about Porcelain Ceramics and decorating with Nerikomi (coloured clay patterns) to add interest to your work.

Nerikomi or Neriage is an artistic technique used to create Japanese agateware. Using stains and oxides to colour clay the coloured sections are then layered and folded to create lines and shapes either at random or specifically places around the vessel.

The workshops will consist of learning to make the coloured clay and then taking that coloured clay through the stages of construction, firing and glazing. There are three main methods Alex uses in her slab built tableware all which will be included in the workshops.
