In association with 'Haunts of Dickens' exhibition toured by the Dunedin Public Art Gallery we celebrate one of the world's greatest writers with a season of BBC documentary, drama and discussion programmes.
Charles Dickens led an extraordinary life. It is a story of rags to riches, complete with bankruptcy, prison, forced child labour and fame and fortune overshadowed by guilt and secrecy. It sounds rather like the plot of one of his epic novels: indeed, Dickens drew strongly on his own life and experiences as the creative source for much of his fiction. This innovative three-part series tells Dickens’ remarkable life story in a way never before seen on television. Episodes to be screened in November and January.
