Multi-award-winning alt-rock champion David Gray has an epic run of arena concerts lined-up across New Zealand this November and December. On his shows in Auckland, Wellington and Christchurch, he will play songs from his seminal album 'White Ladder'—celebrating the 20th anniversary of its groundbreaking release. Apart from his NZ dates, you may also want to check out what's on in Australia as he's also set to perform a list of comeback shows in December—hitting Brisbane, Melbourne, Sydney and Fremantle.
Written and recorded in Stoke Newington, 'White Ladder' sold seven million copies and spawned a string of classic hit singles like 'Babylon', 'Please Forgive Me', 'Sail Away', 'This Year's Love' and 'My Oh My'. It has remained in the top 30 best-selling British albums of all time, and has sold two times platinum in Australia, and three times platinum in New Zealand. The album is one of the 11 complex, ambitious and heartfelt albums David has recorded in a career that spans 25 years. Some—like 'White Ladder'—have been big commercial successes (2002's 'A New Day At Midnight' and 2005's 'Life In Slow Motion'), while others have been more intimate and experimental.
"It's the 20th anniversary of White Ladder, a unique record with its own remarkable history. Jammed full with big, open hearted songs and flooded with a raw emotional energy. It's an album that came from nowhere to steal the hearts of millions all over the world, completely transforming my life in the process. Twenty years on and it feels like White Ladder is just as alive for people now as it was back then—so to celebrate this milestone, I will be releasing a special anniversary version of the album and assembling all the original band members with all the original equipment, in order to take White Ladder out on the road and recreate the record in its entirety."
Having captivated the world with his enigmatic live performances, David Gray is an absolute "don't miss" this November and December!
