From 1st - 31st March 2021, Ronald McDonald House Charities® (RMHC®) New Zealand is calling on Kiwis to take on the challenge and sign up to House to House - a virtual fundraising event that challenges Kiwis to support families staying with RMHC New Zealand while getting active.
House to House encourages participants to run, walk, bike or swim 210KM (10,000 steps per day) to get an idea of the average distance travel to get to an RMHC New Zealand House each month. Every kilometre covered will contribute towards their target, to provide a family with a night’s accommodation, a meal and some essential toiletry items when they need it most.
Providing families "home-away-from-home", RMHC New Zealand offers a safe haven for families to retreat after facing the clinical world of medicine. Every year, they provide over 4,600 families across New Zealand support and accommodation free of charge.
Commenting on the House to House campaign, RMHC New Zealand Chief Executive Officer Wayne Howett said: “We are aiming to raise over $400,000 in our third annual House to House campaign and are calling on people to participate and fundraise $1 per kilometre during March, in total $210 each. This will help us provide a family in need with a night’s accommodation, a meal and essential items when they arrive at the house.”
“2020 was a hard year for many and sadly it has continued for some families. Let’s encourage everyone to do their part in taking a few steps each day to reach the target.”
You can sign up online at www.housetohouse.org.nz as an individual, family or team. To keep track of your KMs, use one of the free online apps or alternatively, you can log your distances manually.
