Strathean stands in 5 acres of mature trees at Te Horo, near Otaki, on the Kapiti Coast just a one hour drive north of Wellington.
The main house offers comfortable country house living, a large lounge with wood burner, ample seating and a small library. The conservatory - like dining room opens onto a sunny deck for alfresco eating. This room has good light and space for dining and/or activities.
For those self catering, the kitchen is modern and well appointed. 2 stoves with fan assisted baking option, 2 fridges, hot water zip and all crockery, cutlery and utensils.
Upstairs is accommodation for 13 people, 1 single room, 1 double and a 4- and 6- bed room. A toilet is also located upstairs.
Downstairs there are 3 single rooms, a shower, 4 toilets and a 300 gallon boiler which heats water for a further 5 bath/showers and provides a drying area for towels and clothing in wet weather.
Extra accommodation of 2 bedrooms sleeping 3 in one & a double and single is available adjacent to the main house. A studio room in the grounds sleeps a further 4 people. All rooms have heating and beds with mattress protector and bedspread.
The Strathean Cottage is available occasionally for the use of teachers, organisers or people with special needs. It is entirely self contained and can sleep four in two rooms. Bedroom and bathroom linen can be provided and the cottage serviced if required.
