Luckless is the ever-morphing project of songwriter Ivy Rossiter. As a two-piece, drummer Logan Compain alternates between blasting out driving rhythms and playing with the lightest, sweetest touch, while Rossiter wrangles riffs from vintage guitars and sings over layers of loops and reverb.
As a solo performer, Rossiter pushes the boundaries of her songs, stretching and sliding through moments of solemnity and brightness, melancholy and optimism, with a voice given free range to do as it chooses.
With the release of their debut self-titled album, Luckless has toured throughout New Zealand, bringing their unique melancholy indie-rock to any willing audience.
Luckless is the child of a three way between indie/rock, singer/songwriter, anti/folk.
Luckless plays loop pedals, valve amplifiers and pre-programmed keyboard drumbeats.
Luckless likes sweet melodies mixed with bitterness and salty instrumental sounds.
