Opera North's hugely successful annual Opera in the Garden promises to be especially memorable in 2020 as this will be the last time that Opera in the Garden will be held in Kennaway's beautiful garden at Operacado. The programme will celebrate the last 20 + or years reflecting the best of what has been done and also what may be in the future. The date, 4 April, is later than usual in order that our special Guest Artist - Eliza Boom - could accommodate us in her busy calendar.
Eliza started learning from Joan Kennaway at age 15, which is where she began the journey that has lead her to perform opera on the world stage. She is currently training at the National Opera Studio in London, supported by the Kiri Te Kanawa Foundation and the Drake Calleja Trust. Eliza has won many awards and competitions, including the Les Azuriales International Singing Competition, Frederic Cox Award, and runner-up in the Lexus Song Quest 2018.
Multi-talented opera singer and performer, Kawiti Waetford, will also perform and the concert will feature Opera North chorus. Once again, you have an opportunity to experience singing of the highest calibre, making this an occasion not to be missed. Pack the chilly bin, a blanket and join us for a really enjoyable afternoon concert, filled with quality singing.
