Esplanade Day is back in 2017 in Palmerston North's most beautiful gardens.
Victoria Esplanade will once again come alive with a fantastic mix of live entertainment, activities, food, culture, and family fun!
We have some special performers this year namely Tanya Batt with her Belle on a Bike - A Caravan of Stories. Storyteller Tanya Batt and musician Peter Forster bring to you stories and music on the back of a bike. Celebrating the 200th anniversary of the bicycle with tall tales, histories, songs and poems all presented in a highly interactive pedal powered fashion. There will be three shows throughout the day.
Back by popular demand is the guys from Big Little Circus - this time they are doing a special Kiwi Circus BBQ show. Kev, Bev and Trev like nothing more than a good ol’ Kiwi BBQ. So they chucked their 6-burner in the back of the Ute, found a gas tank with a little more than half in her and hit the streets to share their love for outdoor cooking. What should be simple method of cooking sausages and other meat based produce, soon turns into absolute mayhem!
PS: Vegetarian options provided
PPS. All food is hypothetical - BYO imagination! Again there will be three shows throughout the day, so keep your eyes and ears peeled for this - Not to be missed.
Our special guests on stage is the Wellington Brass Band, they are a metropolitan arts organisation performing in Wellington's vibrant arts scene regularly in many shapes and forms, they have a varied and innovative programme of concerts and outreach initiatives. The band has a highly active involvement in music education and teaching in the community, performing at many primary schools each year to promote and encourage kids to get involved in music. They will perform on the Victoria House stage - time to be confirmed.
Also, Sonic Delusion will perform on Victoria House stage - Too funky for folk and too folky for funk - that's Sonic Delusion's latin-infused, pop-laced "funky electroacoustic folk". Swiss-Kiwi electro-folk raconteur Sonic Delusion (Andre Manella) “easily carves out his own unapologetically ambitious and intriguingly experimental sound” (NZ Musician).
The New Zealand Army is back again, so if you have a budding soldier in your family, you'll love all the trucks and tanks and camouflage paint to play with!
It is a great opportunity to learn and get involved with some of our local organisations and support our local talent while enjoying a relaxing day in the park!
There will be plenty of food to taste and stalls to browse around at Esplanade Day, as well as endless entertainment for the kids - free bouncy castles, slides, horse rides, amusements, face painting, balloons and much more!
So make sure you and your family get down to Esplanade Day and make the most of this exciting event.
A full programme with times and stages will be posted on Lancewood Event's website soon.
